For the most part the material
the dog tag is made from will determine the most suitable customization
method. Stainless steel tags are embossed to produce authentic military
dog tags. Dog tags made from anodized aluminum are used for laser
engraving. Full color process printing is used on both plastic and
aluminum dog tags. Samples of each tag material is shown below. Notice
that aluminum and plastic tags are available in a variety of colors
whereas stainless steel is limited to either shiny or matte finish.
Another material used for embossing is brass. These tags have the same
specs as stainless steel and can be used to produce authentic military
