DOG TAG CUSTOMIZATION METHODS: Full Color Process Printing

Full color or four color process printing is used when a multi-color imprint is
required. The process involves separating an image into its four component
colors (cyan, magenta, yellow and black). Once separated the image is printed
using these colored inks with varying values “intensities”. The combination of just
these four colors is capable of producing millions of colors.

In order to apply this method to dog tags adhesive vinyl is used. The vinyl is first printed using CMYK inks and then contour cut to fit the exact dog tag shape. The vinyl cutout shape is then adhered to the surface of the tag. The resulting image is very durable and won't rub or scratch off. Plastic dog tags have a recessed surface to protect the vinyl edges whereas rubber silencers are used on aluminum dog tags.
