Dog Tag Customization Methods

CUSTOMIZED DOG TAGS - METHODS USED FOR CUSTOMIZING

There are a variety of methods used for customizing dog tags. The method of embossing or stamping is used to produce authentic military dog tags. Other methods including laser engraving and full color process printing produce military “style” dog tags. Each method is explained in detail with visual examples as well as its advantages over other dog tag customization methods. With the exception of manual embossing machines all methods discussed here require special machinery controlled by a computer and can produce 100’s of dog tags per hour.

Embossing
This method is used by the U.S. armed forces and is the only method available for producing authentic military dog tags.

Laser Engraving
Used to produce military style tags, this method is capable of marking text as well as logos and original designs on one or both sides of a tag.

Full Color Process
This method is used when multi color imprints are desired. Full color printing can be applied to either one or two sides.
